As you’d expect, STA Travel’s employees are a geographically disparate bunch – so an innovative social network that connected them all was always going to be a winner. And so it’s proved…
With nearly 2,000 staff working across multiple locations, languages and platforms in 15 countries, it wasn’t easy for STA Travel to communicate with or promote collaboration among its people.
They needed us to use digital media to bring everyone together – in a way that was meaningful, popular and effective.
Internal communications are an essential tool if the company’s Travel Experts – so highly valued by customers – are to stay motivated and keep on using their knowledge and passion for travel to the full.
With that in mind, we worked in partnership with STA Travel to develop ‘The Loop’ – an innovative internal social network. This was a great fit for its internal demographic and showed employees that the company was moving with the times. Meanwhile, a teaser campaign built a sense of excitement while a launch competition challenged employees to find a photograph of their travels that mirrored one of the company’s values.
Did it succeed? When The Loop was launched, 80 per cent of STA Travel’s staff immediately signed up – a figure that’s since risen even higher. What’s more, The Loop has been recognised with a CorpComms Digi Award for the Best Use of Digital in Internal Communications.
The launch went really well and 85% of people signed up in our division. We asked people to upload pictures representing our values and had hundreds of entries. I’m really looking forward to rolling out the Loop across our other two divisions so that we can become a true globally configured network.
